Dominant idol group, AKB48 released their newest single today, “Kaze wa Fuiteiru” and its already a 1+ million seller. Oricon is reporting 1,045,937 in first day sales for the group’s 23rd single.
The new single includes fifteen members from AKB48, two from SKE48, and one from NMB48. For the b-side songs the traditional Undergirls unit performs “Kimi na Senaka”. A third track on each edition will be performed by either Undergirls Bara (Team A) and Undergirls Yuri (Team K).

The costume design and color palate are a bit of a departure for AKB48 – muted green and a medieval nymph or fairy look with the backdrop of a misty forest. Bell sleeves, ethnic prints, and long feather earrings combine to create a look with surprising artistic and mature appeal.
The new single includes fifteen members from AKB48, two from SKE48, and one from NMB48. For the b-side song the traditional Undergirls unit performs “Kimi na Senaka”. Additionally, in a bit of a new move the AKB48 producers are pushing the often referenced-little used under-under units of Team A and Team K – now referring to them as Undergirls Bara and Undergirls Yuri. Each of these Undergirls units will have a b-side song performed depending on the edition of the single purchased. Can’t just buy one edition….
For those who must, fortunately there will be only two different versions released, Type-A and Type-B, both coming with a DVD with the music videos, as well as a voting ticket for the upcoming “AKB48 Request Hour Set List Best 100 2012” event in January of 2012.

Four AKB48 members are getting their own solo comic strips in the manga magazine Weekly Young Jump. The four girls – Mayu Watanabe, Yuki Kashiwagi, Rie Kitahara, and Rino Sashihara will take turns each week , starting with the magazine’s Volume 38, on sale on August 19. The titles of their manga (subject to change) are “Mayuyu: Mangaka Debut Keikaku,” “Yukirin no THE Idol Quest,” “Kitarie no Mousou Bungaku Shoujodou,” and “Sasshi Bishoujo-ka Keikaku.” As the titles suggest, the comics will reflect each member’s own personality.

Details have been released for the French Kiss debut single “Zutto Mae Kara,” which goes on sale on September 8. The single will come in three versions with different contents, including an original short drama.
First unveiled last month, French Kiss consists of AKB48 members Yuki Kashiwagi (19), Aki Takajo (18), and Asuka Kuramochi (20). Their first song, “Zutto Mae Kara,” is currently being used as the ending theme of the baseball anime series “Major.”
The single will have a CD-only version and two CD+DVD versions, each coming with a different coupling song. The CD-only version will have a French Kiss version of the Team B song “Temodemo no Namida,” while the first CD+DVD version will have a French Kiss version of “Yokaze no Shiwaza” (also a Team B song). The second CD+DVD version will have a brand new song.
The DVD included in the first CD+DVD version contains a video clip for “Zutto Mae Kara,” but it will also come with an original drama, also titled “Zutto Mae Kara.” The youthful love story has the three girls playing managers of a school baseball team, and part of the story involves a romance with the team’s ace player. The drama is being handled by television, film, and music video director Ten Shimoyama.
Fans who reserve the single at one of several designated retail stores will also have a chance in a lottery drawing for a special event.
