The weekly Oricon singles charts are topped by the boys of KANJANI8 with their 20th single “Aoppana” selling over 208,000 copies. The single is featured as theme song for TV drama “Boys on the Run” that also stars group member Maruyama. The second spot goes to the combined EXILE and J Soul Brothers as EXILE TRIBE with their single “24karats TRIBE OF GOLD” selling over 154,000 copies.

YUI and her first single of 2012 “fight” finds its way into the 5th spot on the charts. The song was written to be part of the 79th annual Junior High School Chorus contest.

Rock band abingdon boys school made their way onto the charts in the 8th spot with their first single in over 2 years “WE aRE”.

The album charts are topped by duo Kobukuro and their compilation album “All Singles BEST 2” with over 395,000 copies sold. Second spot goes to Kana Nishino with her 4th album “Love Place” selling over 167,000 copies. Rounding out the top 3 is popular Korean girl group KARA with their album “Collection” sell over 47,000 copies.

The singles charts are topped by another record-setting single by mega-idol group AKB48 and their 27th single “Gingham Check”. The single sold over 1 million copies giving them another record of eight 1 million+ selling singles in a row, nine overall, and 14 #1 singles in a row.

The second spot goes to rock band UVERworld with “THE OVER” selling 61,000 copies. Korean boy idol group B1A4 with their 2nd Japanese single “Oyasumi Good Night” lands in the 4th spot with over 35,000 copies sold.

The album charts are topped by Korean rock band CNBLUE and their 1st Japanese album “CODE NAME BLUE” selling over 45,000 copies. After holding the top spot for 2 weeks AKB48 drops down to the #2 spot with their 4th album release “1830m” selling another 40,000 copies.

AKB48 has updated the release information for their single “Gingham Check” that features members selected via their 4th Senbatsu election held in June. Track list and cover jackets have been revealed for the new single which comes in four main editions plus a theater edition exclusive to AKB48 shops.
