Topping Oricon singles for 2013* is AKB48 taking the top 4 spots with their 31st single Sayonara Crawl taking #1 with close to 2 million sold. Single Sayonara Crawl was tied to the group’s annual general election with voting tickets included with the single. The next spots are taken by their singles Koisuru Fortune Cookie (#2, 32nd), Heart Electric (#3, 33rd), and So Long ! (#3, 30th).

In the #5 spot is EXILE with their concert tour theme song EXILE PRIDE ~Konna Sekai wo Aisurutame~ that was in and out of the top 10 singles charts for 31 weeks. Also the only 1+ million selling single other than AKB48.

Overall the top 20 singles has 11 spots take by Yasushi Akimoto produced idol groups: AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, and Nogizaka46.

Topping Oricon album charts for 2013* is Arashi with their 12th album LOVE that topped the charts for two consecutive weeks with over 780,000+ sold. In the #2 & #3 spots are long time duo B’z with their best compilation albums B’z The Best XXV 1988 – 1998 & B’z The Best XXV 1999 – 2012.

In the #4 spot is FUNKY MONKEY BABYS with compilation album LAST BEST which is the only album in the top 20 which didn’t debut at #1. The album was #2 behind Kis-My-Ft2’s Good Ikuse! (#13) but the following week it climbed into #1 and charted in the top 10 for 11 consecutive weeks.

In the #5 spot is NMB48 with their first album Teppen Tottande! and they are the only idol group in the top 20 albums this year.

On top of the singles charts are the boys of Kis-My-Ft2 with their 9th #1 and 9th single SNOW DOME no Yakusoku /  Luv Sick selling over 268,000 copies. Climbing into the #4 spot is idol group Afilia Saga with single S.M.L featured as the OP for anime My mental choices are completely interfering with my school romantic comedy. And a bit further down is pop diva Koda Kumi in the #9 spot with her 56th single Dreaming Now!.

A number of other anime tie-up single releases are just out of the top 10 – In the #18 spot is OLDCODEX’s 8th single Walk featured as the ED for anime Kuroko’s Basketball. Voice actress and singer Yui Horie gets into the #19 spot with 16th single Golden Time that includes the OP and ED (Sweet & Sweet CHERRY) for anime GOLDEN TIME. Aoi Eir with her 5th single Sirius lands in the #21 spot. The song is featured as the opening theme for anime KILL la KILL.

Topping the album charts is the first album from Generations from EXILE TRIBE, GENERATIONS selling over 48,000 copies.

Topping the single charts is Hottake Band with single Sayonara Arigato selling over 82,000 copies. The special unit consists of Kazuya Kamenashi (KAT-TUN) and Koji Tamaki with the main theme song for their TV drama series Tokyo Band Wagon. In the #4 spot is Kalafina with Kimi no Gin no Niwa the theme song/ending theme for anime movie anime movie Puella Magi Madoka Magica Rebellion. Hitting #6 is visual kei band SID with their 10th anniversary single ANNIVERSARY and opening theme for anime TV series Magi – The Kingdom of Magic.

Out of the top 10 but into the top 20 is Maon Kurosaki with X-encounter OP anime Tokyo Ravens, Minami Kuribayashi 32nd single True Blue Traveler OP anime Infinite Stratos, and Negicco with their 12th single Tokimeki no Headliner.

A rather dull album charts with few Japanese releases are topped by American artists Lady GAGA in #1 and Avril Lavigne in the #2 spot. Jin Akanishi’s self-produced album #JUSTJIN hits #3 and AKB48 idol Iwasa Misaki new solo album of enka songs Request Covers climbs into #8.

Topping the single charts with their 15th 1 million+ selling single is idol group AKB48 and their 33rd single Heart Electric selling over 1,200,000 copies. The single features founding member Kojima Haruna (25) with her first center position on a single.

In the #3 spot is ClariS with their 8th single Colorful selling a good 39,000 copies. The single is featured as the theme song for anime movie Puella Magi Madoka Magica Rebellion. In the #10 spot is nano with SAVIOR OF SONG feat MY FIRST STORY featured as the opening theme for anime Arpeggio of Blue Steel.

And just out of the top 10 in the #11 spot is Minori Chihara with her 18th single Kyokai no Kanata featured as the opening theme for anime Beyond the Boundary (Kyokai no Kanata).

Staying on top of the album charts is male vocal group Arashi with their 12th album LOVE selling another 61,000 copies and giving them a two week total over 731,000 sold. In the #2 is anisong favorite LiSA with her 2nd album LANDSPACE.

On top of the singles charts is Kinki Kids with their 33rd single Mada Namida ni Naranai Kanashimi ga / Koi wa Nioeto Chirinuruwo selling over 178,000 copies. In the #2 spot is the special duo of Nana Mizuki x T.M.Revolution with their 2nd single Kakumei Dualism selling over 80,000 copies. The single is featured as the second opening theme for anime Valvrave the Liberator.

Climbing back onto the singles charts in #3 spot is EXILE with single EXILE PRIDE ~ Konna Sekai wo Aisuru Tame ~ selling another 52,000 copies. The single released back on April, 3rd 2013 and is the featured song for their ongoing 2013 major venue tour. The single’s been in and out of the chart top 10 for the past 31 weeks with over 1 million sales to-date.

Easily topping the album charts is male vocal group Arashi with their 12th album LOVE selling a very strong 670,000 copies. In the #2 & #3 spots are a double release from Kazuyoshi Saito, his 16th album Saito and 17th album Kazuyoshi.

Topping the singles charts is Arashi with their 41st single “Endless Game” that’s featured as theme for TV drama series “Kazoku Game” staring member Sho Sakurai. The single sold over 477,000 copies giving the vocal group their 37th #1 single. In the second spot is Korean group 2PM with their 6th Japanese single “GIVE ME LOVE” with tie-in as theme song for TBS TV drama “TAKE FIVE – Bokutachi wa ai wo nusumeruka” that stars Goro Inagaki of SMAP.

Last week’s #1 from the idol group AKB48, their 31st single “Sayonara Crawl” slips down to the #3 and group member Asuka Kuramochi’s debut single “Itsumo Soba ni” lands in the #4 spot.

On the album charts in the top spot is “Mekaku City Records”, the second album release from the Kagerou Project and multi-creator Jin (Shizen no Teki P). In the #2 spot is Jang Keun Suk with his 2nd album “Nature Boy”.

Arashi has announced their 2nd single for 2013 “Endless Game” with title track featured as theme for TV drama series “Kazoku Game” staring member Sho Sakurai. Single “Endless Game” is the popular vocal group’s 41st single and its scheduled to be in stores May 29th 2013 – read on for more details.

Topping the singles charts this week is the debut single from HKT48 – “Suki! Suki! Skip!” – selling over 250,000 copies. The Fukuoka based sister group of AKB48 formed in 2011 and follows other sister groups SKE48 and NMB48 which previously have released debut singles.

In the #2 spot is Korean girl group T-ARA with their 6th Japanese single “Bunny Style!” and in the #6 spot is Aimer with “RE: I AM EP” with tie-in as theme song for anime OVA Mobile Suit Gundam UC Unicorn episode 6.

On the album charts band BOOWY tops with their great hits album “THE BEST STORY”. In the #3 spot is favorite Kalafina with their 4th album “Consolation”. In the #10 spot is the anime K-ON! MUSIC HISTORY’S BOX which is a 12-CD 258 song compilation release.
