maruyama ryuheiKanjani8 member Maruyama Ryuhei (27) will appear in his first movie, it was announced today. He is joining lead actor Eita (28) in the movie adaptation of Mochizuki Mikiya’s action manga “Wild 7,” which was unveiled in February.

The original manga, serialized between 1969 and 1979, revolved around a group of seven motorcycle-riding outlaws who receive authorization from the police to combat criminals and terrorists. Eita is playing Hiba Dairoku, the leader and the youngest of the group.

Maruyama has been cast as the member Pairou (or possibly Pyro), an original character for the movie taking the place of the character Happyaku from the manga. Pairou’s grandfather is American, making him a quarter-American. His specialties are explosives and machinery.

Filming is already in progress and is planned to finish in May. Warner Bros. has not yet set a release date for the movie.

During their concert at Tokyo Dome on Sunday, Kanjani8 announced that they will be doing two theme songs for the “Crayon Shin-chan” anime franchise – one for the television series, and one for the upcoming movie “Crayon Shin-chan: Arashi wo Yobu Ougon no Spy Daisakusen” (April 16).

This is the first time in “Crayon Shin-chan” history that an artist has sung for the television series and one of the movies at the same time.

For Kanjani8, this is also their first time handling the theme song for a film. The group just did their first drama theme song earlier this year, when they sang “LIFE ~Me no Mae no Mukou e~” for the show “GM Odore Doctor.”

The titles of the songs have not yet been announced. The song for the television series will start being used in February.

Details of Kanjani8′s next album have been revealed. Titled “8UPPERS” (“Pacchi Uppers”), the album will be released on October 20 and will include a special 77-minute “music film” with the DVD editions.

The main CD consists of 13 tracks, written and arranged by artists such as Ulful Keisuke (Ulfuls), DJ KOHNO (Ketsumeishi), and Ken Yokoyama. The regular edition will come with a second CD containing 8 solo songs. The CD+DVD edition will have the “8UPPERS FEATURE MUSIC FILM” and original goods, while the special version of the CD+DVD edition will come with a making-of DVD and extra goods.

The “8UPPERS FEATURE MUSIC FILM” is set in the underworld and has the group’s seven members playing the parts of “shimatsuya,” a term that often refers to hitmen and literally means “someone who settles things.” The film will be screened for a single day (October 11) in approximately 50 Toho Cinemas across the country.
