Topping the single charts is Fukuyama Masaharu with “Ikiteru Ikiteku” – his 14th #1 single selling nearly 120,000 copies and he is still the #1 all time selling male solo artist in Japan. In the #2 spot is UVERworld and “7th Trigger” (release details) selling over 52,000 copies. The top two singles from last week Kis-My-Ft2 with “SHE! HER! Kis-My-Ft2 continues their streak with another solid #1 with their third single “SHE! HER! HER!” (release details) that easily tops the weekly Oricon charts with over 192,000 sold. In the number two spot and also making a strong showing is those Korean girls of KARA and their double A-single “Speed Up / Girls Power” (release details) selling 99,000+ copies.
The AKB48 sub-unit DiVA lands in the number three spot with “Lost the way” (release details) and pop diva Namie Amuro is number four with her double A-single “Go Round / YEAH-OH” (release details).

The charts for December 2011 are dominated by another 1+ million selling single by AKB48 with their “Uekara Mariko” selling a huge 1,273,748 and putting it nearly 1 million ahead of the second place single. The rest of the top 5 singles is dominated by boy groups with Kis-My-Ft2, KAT-TUN, Tohoshiniki, and SMAP landing in the 2nd through 5th spots.
On the album side EXILE with album that includes member ATSUSHI’s solo debut “EXILE JAPAN/ Solo” takes the #1 spot with 350,277 sold. This album dropped on January 1st 2012 which was included in the last chart of the 2011 and they sold another 150,000+ the first week of January. In the #2 spot is Perfume and their album “JPN” just ahead of KARA’s consistent charting album “Super Girl” (charted for 6 weeks in the top 7).

SMAP tops the singles charts with “Boku no Hanbun”, their 13th consecutive number 1 single. Second spot goes to L’Arc~en~Ciel and their 39th single “CHASE” which is also featured as the theme song for the movie “Wild 7.” Acid Black Cherry hits the number 3 spot with their 4th release of a 5 consecutive release project, “CRISIS.”
On the album charts FUNKY MONKEY BABYS newest “FUNKY MONKEY BABYS 4” easily took top honors. In the 2nd-5th spots are 4 best-of albums from Ketsumeishi which were released simultaneously. No other artist has filled 4 of the top 5 spots at the same time on the album charts.

The singles top spot easily went to Kis-My-Ft2 and their second single “We never give up!” with more than 245,000 sold. Even though Kis-My-Ft2 has been around since 2005 their major label debut was just this past August and their popularity can’t be questioned as the group was also named ‘rookie of the year’ for total sales ranking by Oricon.
UVERworld and their single “Baby Born & Go/Kinjito” landed in the 2nd spot. And still showing the power of K-ON! the opening and ending theme singles for the K-ON! movie stayed on the charts for the second week dropping to the 9th and 10th spots.
On the album side there were limited new releases for the week though Korean Group Big Bang released their “The Best of BIGBANG” and landed in the number 2 spot. Top spot went to KARA with their album “Super Girl” which has charted now for 4 weeks, never worse than 3rd on the weekly rankings.
