AKB48 breaks the 1 million sold mark again topping the Oricon weekly singles charts with “GIVE ME FIVE!”. The single sold 1,287,217 making it their 6th consecutive single to sell over 1 million copies. With this single AKB48 tops the record books with most consecutive 1 million selling singles with 6 (Pink Lady 5) and #1 singles with 12 (Morning Musume 11).
On the album charts Tokyo Jihen and their final compilation album “Tokyo Collection” tops with 36,004 copies sold. Landing in the 2nd spot selling 33,290 copies is Chatmonchy with their compilation album “Chatmonchy BEST 2005-2011”.

The Oricon weekly singles charts is topped by NMB48 and their 3rd single “Jungou U-19” with nearly 330,000 copies sold. All 3 of NMB48’s singles have charted #1 which is a first for female artists on the Oricon charts.

Long standing rock band, L’Arc~en~Ciel released their newest single “X X X” last week and it rode the charts up to #1. The band is celebrating their 20th year in strong style. Making a good showing in second place was the Japanese release of the hit single “LUCIFER” by Korean band SHINee. Last week’s number one from YUI fell to number six.
On the album side stylish Kimura Kaela landed in the #1 spot with her album “8EIGHT8”. Its been 4 years since she last had a number one album. Last week’s number one by fictional band A.N.JELL music from the series "You’re Beautiful" stayed strong in the number two spot. The latest from long-time and ever changing Idol group Morning Musume only managed to land at number 8 with their latest, “12, smart.” And sneaking in at number ten spot was anime-cosplayer-akihabara-idol Shokotan (Shoko Nakagawa) with her newest cover album.

This coming episode of Music Station features Korean group KARA who will perform their up coming single Winter Magic (set for release on Oct. 19th), a special medley from Kanjani8, Kimura Kaela, L’Arc~en~Ciel, and YUI whose single Green a. live has been #1 on the daily charts this week and may grab the top spot for the week. Rock band L’Arc~en~Ciel announced a new single, titled “XXX (Kiss Kiss Kiss)”, set for release on October 12th. This will be the band’s second single of their 20th anniversary year celebration and their 38th over all. The b-side track will be a new arrangement of their previous hit song, “I’m so happy”.
The new single, written and composed by hyde, will come in a regular edition and limited edition that adds a video clips DVD. Prior to the release, “XXX” will be available on Chaku-Uta digital download service starting September 14th.

L’Arc-en-Ciel are looking towards their 20th Anniversary in 2011, they will again be releasing their annual Xmas song, which’s limited release has been scheduled for November 24th.
In 2007 they have first released their “Hurry Xmas” as a time limited single, which they repeated in 2008 and 2009, each edition coming with a new cover design and different contents.
The version for 2010 will be released in the same fashion and comes with a special photo card, designed for the new version.
