Maaya Sakamoto new single has been announced, “More Than Words” featured as the theme song for anime OVA movies “Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito” (Akito the Exiled). Besides providing the theme song Maaya will also voice one of the lead characters, Layla Malkal. The single will be offered in two editions and is set for release on July 25th. Lots of new Code Geass projects announced including a new OVA/movie “Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito” (Akito the Exiled) that is due out this summer. Voice actress Maaya Sakamoto will play the heroine Reira Marukaru, a former noblewoman of Britannia and the Waivan unit commander.

Maaya Sakamoto’s regular radio program "Maaya Sakamoto Vitamin M" celebrated number 500 today, November 18 (Friday) broadcasting at midnight. To celebrate, for the first time the show was also a live broadcast on USTREAM.
SKE48 easily took top honors last week on the singles charts with the release of their newest single, “OkiDoki” selling over 380,000 copies. On the album charts, KinKi Kids album “K Album” sold 151,000 copies to land in the top position.
In the other top singles slots – J Soul Brothers (3rd generation) single “Refrain” landing in the number two spot,e Arashi’s single “Meikyu Love Song” released the previous week held strong in the third spot, Kana Nishino newest release “Tatoe Donna ni…” was 5th, and new theme song “CHANGE !!!” for anime “Idolm@ster” sung by the voice cast hit number 6 on the chart.
On the album charts staying strong for the second week YUI slid only one spot into second position with her release “HOW CRAZY YOUR LOVE” and Maaya Sakamoto album release “Driving in the silence” landed number 3. For Sakamoto it was her 3rd release in the past 5 weeks having charted with 2 previous single releases..

AKB48 sister group out of Namba, Osaka, NMB48 again blasted the charts at #1 with over 265,000 sold of their 2nd single “Oh My God!” With their 1st single also selling at +200K makes it two in a row for NMB48 and is a first for any female group. Making a strong showing at #2 is BUMP OF CHICKEN with their single “Zero” at over 163,000 copies sold. “Zero” is featured as theme for popular RPG game “FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0.” KARA should have picked a different week to release their newest single “Winter Magic” but they did well to land in the #3 spot.
Fall anime theme songs from Minori Chihara and Maaya Sakamoto make the charts in the 9th and 10th spots respectively.
On the album side duo Tegomass consisting of NEWS members Yuya Tegoshi and Takahisa Masuda hit the #1 spot with their 3rd album release “Magic of Tegomass.” Kazuyoshi Saito and his new album “45 STONES” slides into the #2 spot just ahead of Coldplay’s “Mylo Xyloto” in #3.

Maaya Sakamoto’s newest single “Buddy” dropped on October 19th and her next single, “Okaerinasai” (Welcome Back) is set for October 26th.
“Buddy” is featured as the opening theme for the new adaption for anime series Last Exile: Silver Wing and is a collaboration with rock group School Food Punishment. Maaya will also voice a character who appears in the 6th episode of the anime. Last Exile: Silver Wing began airing October
“Okaerinasai” (Welcome Back) is featured as the opening theme for Tamayura – Hitotose anime series. The song was written by Matsutoya Yumi. The b-side song is a cover of Matsutoya Yumi’s “A HAPPY NEW YEAR.” Tamayura – Hitotose began airing October 3rd and hasn’t yet been picked up for similcast streaming outside of Japan.
Maaya will also be releasing a new album “Driving in the silence” on November 8th.
