This week’s singles charts saw three big single releases but in the end it was another #1 for Arashi with “Face Down” (release details) selling over 520,000 copies. Typical strong sales for this mega group that’s only matched by a few others these days. In a strong second spot was NMB48 with “Nagiichi” (release details) their first single not to chart #1. They sold over 375,000 copies, more than either of their #1 charting previous three did but coming out the same week as Arashi was bad luck for the idol group. Rounding out the top 3 is SUPER JUNIOR and their Japanese single “Opera” (release details) with a solid 160,000 copies sold.
May’n and her new single “Chase the world” – (release details) – featured as opening theme for anime ACCEL WORLD charted a respectable 7th and selling close to 17,000 copies.
On the album charts Mr. Children tops the first two spots with simultaneous release of greatest hits albums, “Mr. Children 2005-2010 MACRO” and “Mr. Children 2001-2005 MICRO” selling a super strong over 700,000 copies each!! Nothing else….

NMB48 has just posted preview music videos for a coupling tracks “Saigo no Katarushisu” and “Boku ga Mosukoshi Daitan Nara” from new single “Nagiichi”. The tracks are split on the Limited A and Limited B editions respectively of the single and the full music video is included on the bonus DVD with each edition. The Oricon weekly singles charts is topped by NMB48 and their 3rd single “Jungou U-19” with nearly 330,000 copies sold. All 3 of NMB48’s singles have charted #1 which is a first for female artists on the Oricon charts.
On the album charts L’Arc~en~Ciel and their new album “BUTTERFLY” easily top with over 170,000 copies sold. Its been over 4 years since the group released a full album and fans clearly were waiting.

The AKB48 TV anime “AKB0048” has announced the casting of the 9 main characters. The “AKB0048” story revolves around 9 young idols aiming to be “legendary idols” and is set to air this Spring 2012. After a week delay AKB48 has announced the names of the 30 members who passed the first round of judging to be one of the 9 voice actors (seiyuu) for their Spring 2012 anime “AKB0048.” It was previously stated the results would be released December 2nd but it wasn’t until December 8th that they were able to pare down the 200 to 30.
