No problem for power idol group AKB48 topping the singles charts with 31st single “Sayonara Crawl” that’s tied to their upcoming group general election. The single sold over 1.7 million copies with fans eager to get their hands on the included voting card. With over 235 AKB idols eligible for the voting fans are hoping to support their favorite members into the top 16 who are selected to participate on the next single and the top 64 selected to participate on additional coupling songs. It will be a surprise when an AKB48 single fails to hit the 1+ million mark as they re-write the record books for sales.

Perfume with their 18th single “Magic of Love” lands in #3, band Scandal climbs to #4 with 15th single “Awanai tsumori no, genki dene” and up and coming singer Leo Ieiri (18) with her 4th single “Message” lands just in the top 10 in the #8 spot.

Topping the album charts is singer/songwriter miwa with her 3rd original album “Delight” selling a good 69,000 copies.

Topping the singles charts is popular vocal group KAT-TUN with their 21st single “FACE to Face” featured as theme for movie “Ore Ore” that stars group leader Kazuya Kamenashi. The group keeps their record is perfect with 21 #1 charting singles.

Close in the #2 spot is dream pairing of T.M.Revolution x Nana Mizuki with single “Preserved Roses” featured as opening theme for anime Valvrave the Liberator. Selling over 115,000 copies opening week that may be a record for an anime TV series theme song.

Topping the weekly singles charts is fripSide with opening theme for anime A Certain Scientific Railgun S, “sister’s noise”. It’s the group’s first #1 single and 5th single tied to the anime and game franchise. In the 9th spot is singer and voice actress Yoko Hikasa with her debut solo single “Utsukushiki zankoku na sekai” featured as the ending theme for anime Attack on Titan.

The album charts are topped by Kinki Kids member Domoto Tsuyoshi with cover album “Kaba” selling over 77,000 copies.

Topping the singles charts this week is SEXY ZONE with their 4th single “Real Sexy! / BAD BOYS” selling over 138,000 copies. It gives the young male vocal group their 4th #1 single out of 4 releases. In the #2 spot is SEKAI NO OWARI with “RPG” selling over 79,000 copies. The single is featured as the theme song for newest anime movie from the Crayon Shin-chan franchise.

Seiyuu group Sphere lands in the #7 spot with single “GENESIS ARIA” featured as the theme song for anime TV series Arata: the Legend. And in the #4 and #9 spots are singles from popular anime Uta no Prince-sama 2000%.  

On top of the album chart is duo Yuzu with their 11th album “LAND” selling over 89,000 copies.

In the top spot on the singles charts this week is vocal group KANJANI8 with their 21st single “Hesomagari / Kokonishikanai Keshiki” selling over 295,000 copies. Title song “Hesomagari” is featured as theme song for TV drama Otenki Oneesan starring member Tadayoshi Okura and other title song “Kokonishikanai Keshiki” has tie-in as theme for movie Kencho Omotenashi Ka starring member Ryo Nishikido.

Climbing into #3 is voice actors from anime Uta no Prince-sama 2000% forming fictitious group STARISH with single and the anime’s ending theme “Maji LOVE 2000%”. The #4 spot is Korean rock band CNBLUE with Japanese single “Blind Love”.

On the album charts in #1 is Golden Bomber with 5th anniversary album “The Past Masters Vol. 1” selling over 113,000 copies. A strong showing for the visual kei air band. In 9th is idol/voice actress unit StylipS with their first album “The Lightning Celebration” and in 10th is angela with their 6th album that includes new song “Boku janai” featured as ending theme for anime Valvrave the Liberator.

Landing in the top spot on the singles charts this week is longtime idol group Morning Musume with single “Brainstorming / Kimi sae ireba nani mo iranai”. It’s the group’s 53rd single and last song for generation 6 member Reina Tanaka (23). Selling over 94,000 copies it will be their 4th Gold single in a row and the idol group continues its highest popularity since 2004.

In the #2 spot is ClariS with “reunion” featured as the opening theme for anime Oreimo season 2. Tamura Yukari lands in #5 with “Fantastic future” with tie-in as opening theme for anime Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat. And GRANRODEO climbs into the #7 spot with single “Henai no Rondo” featured as the opening theme for anime Karneval.

Topping the album charts is vocal group E-girls with their first album “Lesson 1” selling over 57,000 copies. In the #8 spot is first album “relation” from singer/voice actress Ayahi Takagaki.

Topping the singles charts this week is Masaharu Fukuyama with his 16th #1 single “Tanjyobi ni wa Mashiro na Yuri wo / Get the groove”. Selling over 108,000 copies adding to his reign as the top all-time selling male solo artist in Japan.

In the #2 spot is NO NAME the AKB48 subunit tied to anime AKB0048 with single “Kono Namida wo Kimi ni Sasagu”. The #3 spot is singer/voice actor Mamoru Miyano with single “Kanon” featured as the opening theme for anime Uta no Prince-sama 2000%.

On the album charts is idol group Momoiro Clover Z with their 2nd album “5th Dimension” selling over 180,000 copies. Capitalizing on their surge in popularity the girls re-released their 1st album “Battle and Romance” (2011.07) and fans pushed all the way into the #2 spot selling over 37,000 copies (14,000 more than its original release).

In the #7 spot is singer/voice actress Ayana Taketatsu with her first album “apple symphony”.

The singles charts are topped this week by Kis-My-Ft2 with single “Ki Su U Ma I ~ KISS YOUR MIND ~ / S.O.S. (Smile On Smile)” with over 214,000 copies sold. It’s the boy group’s 7th single and 7th #1.

Landing in the next four spots are Korean groups – #2 is KARA with “Bye Bye Happy Days!”, #3 is Choshinsei with “Da Ki Shi Me Ta I”, #4 is BOYFRIEND with “Hitomi no Melody”, and #5 goes to FTISLAND with “You Are My Life

Topping the album charts is Kis-My-Ft2 with their second album “Good Ikuze!” selling over 222,000 copies.  In the #2 spot is Funky Monkey Babys with their best hits album “LAST BEST” with over 168,000 sold. Sliding into the #6 spot is singer/voice actress/songwriter Maaya Sakamoto with album “Singer Songwriter” featuring songs she wrote and produced in collaboration with Shin Kono and Zentaro Watanbe.

*Kis-My-Ft2’s special DVD release also topped the DVD charts making a sweep of the major weekly Oricon charts. It’s the 3rd time the feat has been accomplished by a single group/artist – Ayumi Hamasaki (Oct 2000), KAT-TUN (April 2006).

Topping the singles charts this week is the debut single from HKT48 – “Suki! Suki! Skip!” – selling over 250,000 copies. The Fukuoka based sister group of AKB48 formed in 2011 and follows other sister groups SKE48 and NMB48 which previously have released debut singles.

In the #2 spot is Korean girl group T-ARA with their 6th Japanese single “Bunny Style!” and in the #6 spot is Aimer with “RE: I AM EP” with tie-in as theme song for anime OVA Mobile Suit Gundam UC Unicorn episode 6.

On the album charts band BOOWY tops with their great hits album “THE BEST STORY”. In the #3 spot is favorite Kalafina with their 4th album “Consolation”. In the #10 spot is the anime K-ON! MUSIC HISTORY’S BOX which is a 12-CD 258 song compilation release.

This week the singles charts are topped by the idols of Nogizaka46 with their 5th single “Kimi no na wa kibo” (君の名は希望) selling over 242,000 copies. It’s the self-appointed rival to AKB48 4th #1 single.

In the #2 spot is Yamashita Tomohisa (Yamapi) with his new single “Kai Sera Sera”. Landing in the #5 spot is Korean boy group SHINee with their 7th Japanese single “Fire”. Pulling into the #7 spot group AAA with single “PARTY IT UP”.

Just out of the top 10 in #11 spot is group supercell with 7th major single “The Bravery” that’s featured as the opening theme for anime Magi – The Labyrinth of Magic.

On the album charts rock band Sakanaction with album “sakanaction” selling a good 82,000 copies. Vocal group AAA also lands on the album charts with compilation album “Ballad Collection” in the #4 spot. Out of the top 10 in the #15 spot is one of our favorites – idol group 9nine with their second album “CUE”.

Topping the singles charts is powerful male vocal group Arashi with double-a side single “Calling X Breathless” selling a strong 756,000 copies. Both songs have tie-ins to productions that star group members (more details). In the #6 spot is unit EGOIST (ryo producing, chelly vocals) with their 4th single “All Alone With You” featured as the second ending theme for anime PSYCHO-PASS.

On the album charts its Korean power duo Tohoshinki (TVXQ) with their new Japanese album “TIME” selling over 243,000 copies (more details). In the #3 spot is Acid Black Cherry (yazu) who continues the winter season trend of cover albums with “Recreation 3”. Landing in the #9 spot is GRANRODEO with their greatest hits album “Greatest Hits ~ GIFT REGISTRY ~”.
