Not yet has their 4th single “Suika BABY” (Watermelon BABY) set for delivery on May 30th. This is the unit’s first release of 2012 and it will be offered in four different editions. They have also exposed a preview music video for the the title track (below). The unit consists of AKB48 members Oshima Yuko, Kitahara Rie, Sashihara Rino, and Yokoyama Yui. This week’s singles charts are topped by idol group Nogizaka46 with “Oide Shampoo” - their 2nd single and first number one charting single with over 155,000 copies sold (release details). In second is AKB48 member Sashihara Rino’s solo release “Soredemo Sukidayo” selling a strong 124,000 copies. The third spot is YUKI with double-A side single “Playball / Sakamichi no Melody” – (release details) – the second track is featured as the opening theme song for anime Sakamichi no Apollo (Kids on the Slope).
On the album charts not many new releases and last week’s #1 remains for the second week in a row with Yuzu topping with the compilation album “YUZU YOU [2006-2011]” with another 58,000 copies sold. In second is BENI with her album “COVERS” which as been charting since being released March 21st. The third spot see new release from Shoko Nakagawa (Shokotan) with her best release “Shokotan☆Best ――(°∀°)――!”.

Voice actress and talento Aya Hirano will star along with AKB48 member Sashihara Rino in a live-action TV series Muse no Kagami (Muse’s Mirror). The show will air on NTV being January 14th in a late night time slot of 1:55am and the series will run for 24 episodes. More about the new show follows,

AKB48 will be releasing a calendar for 2011 titled “PRESENT ~Kamisama karano Okurimono” on December 14th. 14 out of the 48 members have been selected for the calendar: Oshima Yuko, Maeda Atsuko, Shinoda Mariko, Itano Tomomi, Watanabe Mayu, Takahashi Minami, Kojima Haruna, Kashiwagi Yuki, Miyazawa Sae, Matsui Jurina, Kasai Tomomi, Takajo Aki, Minegishi Minami, and Sashihara Rino.
The calendar will come with many special bonuses, which include 12 clear files, a special 3-D trading card, and brilliant seals.
