The single charts are topped this week by Sexy Zone and their second single “Lady Diamond” – (release details) – selling over 115,000 copies. Not as big a seller as their first single that topped the charts with over 300,000 copies sold but another #1 single for this shonen group. Second spot goes to the girls of Perfume with “Spring of Life” – (release details) – selling almost 94,000 copies. And rounding out the top three is veteran idol group (that’s gotten much younger) Morning Musume with “Renai Hunter” – (release details) – the single will be current leader and last from the 5th generation (2001) Niigaki Risa’s final with the group as she nears graduation.
On the album charts half of group KinKi Kids Tsuyoshi Domoto with his first solo album in over three years “Shamanippon ~Rakachinotohi~” selling over 72,000. In second lands one of our featured releases – the middle school duo of ClariS and their first album “BIRTHDAY” – (release details) – selling over 52,000 copies.

Sexy Zone is set to release the second single “Lady Diamond” on April 11th. Much anticipated after their debut single topped the charts and eventually selling over 300,000 copies. With an average age of just 14 1/2 these boys set Oricon record for the youngest group to top the charts. Expect another possible #1 with their second single having three tie-in songs – the title track “Lady Diamond” is theme song for Fuji TV series “Real Scope Z”, coupling track “Kaze o Kitte” is the new ending theme for long running NHK anime “Nintama Rantaro”, and coupling track “High!! A strong month for powerhouses Arashi (#1 single, #7 album), AKB48 (#7 single) and its sister group SKE48 (#2 single) and subgroups Not Yet (#4 single), French Kiss (#5 single), and Johnny’s Entertainment groups Sexy Zone (#3 single) and Kanjani8 (#2 album) on the monthly charts.
KARA – perhaps the hottest female idol group out of Korea these days managed to top the album charts with their release “Super Girl”. Two real ‘super girls’ – YUI was #3 on the album charts and singer/voice actress Nana Mizuki was #6.

Two Johnny’s Entertainment groups topped the charts with week – the debut of Sexy Zone on the singles charts and Kanjani8 on the album charts. Overall a strong week for single releases as only last weeks topper SKE48 managed to stay in the top 10 at #8.
In a close second place was AKB48 subunit Not Yet with their single “Pera Pera Perao” and third went to Acid Black Cherry’s “Chou” their 4th single in four months. They have one more single to go in their consecutive month release project.
On the album charts Kanjani 8 took top honors with their 4th #1 album “FIGHT” and T.M.Revolution’s compilation album of theme songs contributed to the Sengoku Basara anime and game franchise, “UTAGE” was a nice second on the chart.

TV Asahi’s long running music show "Music Station" has announced the performers for their upcoming Friday the 11th of November show: Arashi – #1 most popular group, Kana Nishino – talented young singer, YUI – popular and favorite female singer, Shiina Ringo – with her first single release in 2 years, and Sexy Zone – new Johnny’s Entertainment male idol group. Performances should make for an excellent show.
