
This week’s singles charts are topped by idol group Nogizaka46 with “Oide Shampoo” - their 2nd single and first number one charting single with over 155,000 copies sold (release details). In second is AKB48 member Sashihara Rino’s solo release “Soredemo Sukidayo” selling a strong 124,000 copies. The third spot is YUKI with double-A side single “Playball / Sakamichi no Melody” – (release details) – the second track is featured as the opening theme song for anime Sakamichi no Apollo (Kids on the Slope).
On the album charts not many new releases and last week’s #1 remains for the second week in a row with Yuzu topping with the compilation album “YUZU YOU [2006-2011]” with another 58,000 copies sold. In second is BENI with her album “COVERS” which as been charting since being released March 21st. The third spot see new release from Shoko Nakagawa (Shokotan) with her best release “Shokotan☆Best ――(°∀°)――!”.

Shoko Nakagawa (Shokotan) and Kalafina hit the stage along with many other anime related singers and groups at the ANIMAX MUSIX 2011 festival held back on November 23rd 2011 at the Yokohama Area. The Kalafina fan Youtube site just uploaded a great clip of Kalafina and Shokotan together preforming Shokotan’s hit “Sorairo Days” which was featured as the opening to very popular anime “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann”. Shokotan (Shoko Nakagawa) held a release event for her new single “Horoscope” January 14th at Kanagawa Lazona mall in front of 7,000 enthusiastic fans. She performed the new song and spent much time greeting as many fans as time allowed. Shokotan over came a bout of viral gastroenteritis as she prepared for the 2-day live “Shoko☆Cover Fes.2011 in NAKAGAWA BROADWAY” to captivate fans with spectacular performances. Held on December 19th & 20th, Shoko Nakagawa (Shokotan) covered SPEED, Pink Lady, Morning Musume, and others plus she was joined by Meg rock to sing a few duets.

Held at SHIBUYA-AX Tokyo on November 20th, Shoko Nakagawa (Shokotan,Yokotan) and visual Kei band Golden Bomber live show was full of crazyness and fun. Golden Bomber gave a great show with some fun stunts throughout. Shokotan sang songs from her newest cover album and the show ended with a collaboration with Golden Bomber and Shoktan singing “Kiss Me Now.” Check out all the concert photos that follow,

VAMPS and Acid Black Cherry along with other groups will hold 4 concerts over the next two weeks under the name of “HALLOWEEN PARTY 2011”. Other groups participating are BREAKERZ, SID, SADS, Shokotan, and AKB48 sub-group Corridor Running Team (7). Only VAMPS and Acid Black Cherry will appear in all performances. The concerts will be on the 21st and 22nd in Chiba, and the 29th and 30th in Kobe. The finale night of the event is said to use a lavish Thai theme. All the concerts might be a bit scary and for sure they will rock.

Long standing rock band, L’Arc~en~Ciel released their newest single “X X X” last week and it rode the charts up to #1. The band is celebrating their 20th year in strong style. Making a good showing in second place was the Japanese release of the hit single “LUCIFER” by Korean band SHINee. Last week’s number one from YUI fell to number six.
On the album side stylish Kimura Kaela landed in the #1 spot with her album “8EIGHT8”. Its been 4 years since she last had a number one album. Last week’s number one by fictional band A.N.JELL music from the series "You’re Beautiful" stayed strong in the number two spot. The latest from long-time and ever changing Idol group Morning Musume only managed to land at number 8 with their latest, “12, smart.” And sneaking in at number ten spot was anime-cosplayer-akihabara-idol Shokotan (Shoko Nakagawa) with her newest cover album.
