SMAP tops the singles charts this week with their 53rd single Top Of The World / Amazing Discovery selling over 122,000 copies. Perfume climbs to #2 with 20th single Cling Cling selling over 73,000 copies and idol unit C-ute rounds out the top 3 with The Power / Kanashiki Heaven selling 55,000 copies.

Girl rock band SCANDAL lands in the #5 spot with Yoake no Ryuseigun (夜明けの流星群) featured as the theme song for anime movie Pokemon The Movie XY "Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction".

TOKIO tops the album charts with album HEART containing 30 songs selected by fan votes and celebrating their 20th anniversary. Kalafina lands in the #3 & #4 spots a with a pair of greatest hits albums THE BEST “Blue” and THE BEST “Red”.

Continuing its run on the album charts – original soundtrack album FROZEN (Anna and the Snow Queen) has spent 19 straight weeks in the top 10.

SMAP announced new double a-side single Top Of The World / Amazing Discovery for release on July 16th 2014. Song Amazing Discovery has tie-up as theme song for Universal Studios Japan theme park starting in mid-June and track Top Of The World will be featured as the theme song for the group’s Fuji TV variety show SMAP x SMAP. SMAP tops the singles charts with their 52nd single Yes we are / Koko Kara selling over 138,000 copies. Performance group SEKAI NO OWARI lands in #2 with Hono to mori no Carnival with over 66,000 copies sold. Last week’s #1 from Nogizaka46 – their 8th single Kizuitara Kataomoi (気づいたら片想い) drops into #3.

On top of the album charts for the second week in a row is Fukuyama Masaharu with his 11th album HUMAN selling another 43,000 copies. Voice actress and singer Eri Kitamura climbed into the #7 spot with her 2nd album SHOMEI (証×明).

Topping Oricon singles for 2013* is AKB48 taking the top 4 spots with their 31st single Sayonara Crawl taking #1 with close to 2 million sold. Single Sayonara Crawl was tied to the group’s annual general election with voting tickets included with the single. The next spots are taken by their singles Koisuru Fortune Cookie (#2, 32nd), Heart Electric (#3, 33rd), and So Long ! (#3, 30th).

In the #5 spot is EXILE with their concert tour theme song EXILE PRIDE ~Konna Sekai wo Aisurutame~ that was in and out of the top 10 singles charts for 31 weeks. Also the only 1+ million selling single other than AKB48.

Overall the top 20 singles has 11 spots take by Yasushi Akimoto produced idol groups: AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, and Nogizaka46.

The double a-side single includes main theme song for TV series Dokushin Kizoku that stars member Tsuyoshi Kusanagi. The second title song Hello is the official song of Hello Kitty’s 40th anniversary.

In the #2 spot is rock group UVERworld with their 25th single Nano Second, climbing into the #3 spot are the idols of S/mileage with their 15th single Eeka!? / Iiyatsu, and in the #4 spot are the Korean group U-KISS with their 7th Japanese single Fall in Love / Shape of Your Heart.

On top of the album charts Kobukuro with their 8th original album One Song From Two Hearts selling just under 100,000 copies.

Topping the singles charts this week is popular vocal group KANJANI8 with their 22nd single “Namida no Kotae” selling over 248,000 copies. Their 19th #1 single has tie-in as the theme song for movie “100 Kai Naku Koto” (To Cry a 100 Times) that stars member Tadayoshi Okura. In the #2 spot is popular Korean group Tohoshinki (TVXQ) with new Japanese single “OCEAN” selling over 140,000 copies.

Climbing into the #9 spot is supercell with their 8th single “Hakushu kassai uta awase”. And just out of the top 10 in #11 is performance unit 9nine with “Evolution No.9

Over on the album charts its a pair of best albums from group B’zThe Best XXV 1988-1998” and “The Best XXV 1999-2012” on top with both selling over 377,000 copies. In the #3 spot is Korean band FTISLAND with their 3rd Japanese album “RATED-FT”.

Making into the #9 spot is Tomoko Kawase’s alter-ego TOMMY february6 with album “TOMMY CANDY SHOP ♥ SUGAR ♥ ME”.

On top of the singles charts this week is SMAP with their 50th single “JOY!!” selling over 327,000 copies. In the #2 spot is very popular Korean singer Kim Hyun Joong with his 3rd Japanese single “TONIGHT” with over 115,000 copies sold. Sliding into the #7 spot is Kana Nishino with her first single of 2013 “Believe”.

Just out of the top 10 in #15 is Yoko Hikasa with her 2nd solo single “Owaranai Uta” and #16 is Shoko Nakagawa with single “Zoku Konton”.

Topping the album charts is Korean group INFINITE with their first Japanese album “Koi ni Ochiru Toki”. Just separated by a few 100 copies in #2 is Momoiro Clover Z with their Best Indies compilation album “Iriguchi no Nai Deguchi”. The album had a early release and charted last week or it would have topped this week.

Both songs have tie-ins to productions that star group members (more details). In the #6 spot is unit EGOIST (ryo producing, chelly vocals) with their 4th single “All Alone With You” featured as the second ending theme for anime PSYCHO-PASS.

On the album charts its Korean power duo Tohoshinki (TVXQ) with their new Japanese album “TIME” selling over 243,000 copies (more details). In the #3 spot is Acid Black Cherry (yazu) who continues the winter season trend of cover albums with “Recreation 3”. Landing in the #9 spot is GRANRODEO with their greatest hits album “Greatest Hits ~ GIFT REGISTRY ~”.

The #2 spot goes to Perfume with single “Mirai no Museum” that’s featured as the theme song for long running anime franchise Doraemon new movie Doraemon Nobita no Himitsu Dogu Museum (Doraemon Nobita’s Secret Gadget Museum).

Last week’s #1 from mega idol group AKB48 – their 12th million+ selling single “So Long !” – slips into the #3 spot with 50,000 more copies sold.

Topping the album charts is NMB48 with their first album “Teppen Tottande!” selling a strong 328,000 copies. Solo album “D’scover” from BIGBANG member D-LITE lands in the #2 spot. Pop diva Koda Kumi hits the #3 spot with cover song album “Color the Cover” and T.M.Revolution with a self-cover album “UNDER:COVER 2” slides into the #4 spot.
