The first chart of the New Year is usually a bit odd as there aren’t many releases the previous week. One new release tops the singles charts – Golden Bomber’s 13th single “Dance My Generation” with a good any week 124,000 copies sold. It’s the first #1 charting single from the visual kei theatrical rock band.

The album charts are basically unchanged from last week with the third album release from Sandaime J Soul Brothers – “MIRACLE” – again topping. The album released early and topped the charts last week giving the popular male group their first #1 selling album.

(Oricon delayed charts until Jan 7th due to New Years)

Toping the single charts is longtime boy group V6 with their 41st single “ROCK YOUR SOUL” their 25th #1. The single has tie-ups with their TV variety program “Gacha Gacha V6” and game “Shin Hokutomuso”. Landing in the #2 spot is UVERworld with single “REVERSI” which is featured as the theme song for anime movie Blue Exorcist.

Idol group Momoiro Clover Z gets two singles on the charts – in the #5 spot is a venue only release at their Saitama Super Arena Christmas Dec. 24th & 25th events “Bokura no senchuri” and in #10 is previously released “Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimitachi yo” (Nov 21st).

On the album charts is the third album release from Sandaime J Soul Brothers – “MIRACLE” – the group’s first #1 selling album.

UVERworld has updated the details for their 23rd single “REVERSI” – cover jackets, track list, and bonuses have been revealed. The single has a tie-in as the theme song for upcoming anime movie Blue Exorcist. UVERworld previously was connected to the Blue Exorcist anime TV series supplying its first opening theme with song “CORE PRIDE”. Topping this week’s singles charts is new unit The MONSTERS with debut single “MONSTERS” selling over 160,000 copies. The unit consists of Yamashita Tomohisa (Yamapi) and Katori Shingo of SMAP and the song is featured as theme song for TBS drama MONSTERS in which Yamapi and Katori are co-staring.

Fourth spot goes to FTISLAND with their 9th single “Polar Star” (full music video revealed) and landing in the 7th spot is Luna Haruna with her 2nd “Overfly” featured as the new ending theme for popular anime Sword Art Online.

Topping the album charts is Mr. Children with new album “[(an imitation) blood orange]” selling a strong 530,000 copies its opening week. In the third spot is Girls Generation with their second Japanese album “Girls Generation II ~Girls & Peace~” and in fourth is rock band UVERworld with “THE ONE” that includes upcoming single “REVERSI” featured as theme song for anime movie Blue Exorcist.

Landing in the 8th spot is Shiro Sagisu with his new sound track album for the iconic anime and new movie EVANGELION 3.0 YOU CAN (NOT) REDO that opened November 17th in Japan.

The singles charts are topped by another record-setting single by mega-idol group AKB48 and their 27th single “Gingham Check”. The single sold over 1 million copies giving them another record of eight 1 million+ selling singles in a row, nine overall, and 14 #1 singles in a row.

The second spot goes to rock band UVERworld with “THE OVER” selling 61,000 copies. Korean boy idol group B1A4 with their 2nd Japanese single “Oyasumi Good Night” lands in the 4th spot with over 35,000 copies sold.

The album charts are topped by Korean rock band CNBLUE and their 1st Japanese album “CODE NAME BLUE” selling over 45,000 copies. After holding the top spot for 2 weeks AKB48 drops down to the #2 spot with their 4th album release “1830m” selling another 40,000 copies.

Topping the single charts is Fukuyama Masaharu  with “Ikiteru Ikiteku” – his 14th #1 single selling nearly 120,000 copies and he is still the #1 all time selling male solo artist in Japan. In the #2 spot is UVERworld and “7th Trigger” (release details) selling over 52,000 copies. The top two singles from last week Kis-My-Ft2 with “SHE! HER! HER!” and KARA with “Speed Up / Girls Power” land in the 3rd and 4th spots respectively.

On the album charts its Kis-My-Ft2 first album release “Kis-My-1st” selling a strong 253,000 (release details). Its a great follow up to their 3rd single that charted #1 last week and 3rd this week – these kids are hot. Number two spot goes to duo Porno Graffitti and “PANORAMA PORNO” selling over 56,000 (release details). In third is popular Korean group BIGBANG with their Japanese release of “ALIVE” selling over 52,987 (release details). Their sister group 2NE1 also released album “COLLECTION” and landing in the #5 spot with over 22,000 sold (release details).
