Hi I’m toyNN ♂ – avid anime watcher and Asian music listener. From both of these passions I write a bit about it here at Comtrya Sugoi.

Love this new era of nearly same-day streaming of shows as they air in Japan and most of my anime watching is over on Crunchyroll [profile] and on TAN (theanimenetwork). Watching shows also over on NicoNico.com x Funimation – though their player still needs some work. Their niche of streaming comments actually is fun with some of the shows though not so much the first time viewing a episode. Best is still Crunchyroll – player, site, and community is #1.

My introduction to Japanese pop music (Jpop) began with the many anime opening and ending themes that feature new singles from Japanese artists. The first ones I heard got me hooked,

  • Naruto
    – "ROCKS" by Hound Dog
    – "Haruka Kanata" by Asian Kung-Fu Generation
  • Bleach –
    – "*~Asterisk" by Orange Range
    – "Ichirin no Hana" by High and Mighty Color
  • Full Metal Alchemist
    – "Melissa" by Porno Graffitti
    – "Ready Steady Go" by L’Arc-en-Ciel

These days my favorite Japanese and Korean artists and groups are,
– SCANDAL
– SPHERE
– Stereopony (disbanded)
– High and Mighty Color (broke-up)
– Girls Generation
– Namie Amuro
– After School
– KARA
– nano.RIPE
– Elisa
– Aya Hirano (yes I like her songs! – RIOT GIRL is great album)
– ClariS
– LAMA (where are they?)
(there are more but that’s enough)

Am I an expert on anime or asian music? No – just a fan with a passion – that may make me “otaku” for it and I will work hard to bring the newest information about what’s happening to you.
