Knuckle and Shoot attempt to ambush Cheetu, but at the last moment, Cheetu changes directions and vanishes. The two Hunters realize that someone must have warned Cheetu. Meanwhile, Killua and Gon are both being followed. The Chimera Ant following Gon decides to reveal himself.

April, 1590: Hideyoshi finally launches his campaign to conquer Hojo’s Odawara Castle. Meanwhile, Kanetsugu and the Uesugi forces attack Matsuida Castle, but due to Hojo’s vassal Daido Masashige’s strong defense, a stalemate of advancing and retreating ensues. Kanetsugu has a secret plan, however; he takes a dog with him and enters the mountains. That moonlit night above a hill, Kanetsugu hears beautiful sounds of someone playing a flute.

One day, Koyomi Araragi, a boy in 12th grade, caught the body of his classmate Hitagi Senjyogahara, who was falling down after slipping on the stairs, knowing that it was dangerous to do so. However, her body was surprisingly light, as if the concept of weight did not exist.

Kanato finds Yui in the rose garden as she tries to sort out the new information about who betrayed her and gave her up as a sacrifice. He beckons her to follow him so he may show off a graveyard containing the grave of his mother. Assuming he would like some time alone, Yui attempts to leave which only infuriates Kanato with misplaced anger. Reeling from this experience, Yui wanders through the estate, and becomes worried when she hears groans coming from Reiji's room. Much to her folly, she enters the room to see if he needs help

Imaizumi witnesses Sakamichi climbing the high school's steep rear gate slope on his mommy bike while singing. In order to test his strength, Imaizumi challenges Sakamichi to a bicycle race. Sakamichi is surprised, but hearing Imaizumi's offer to join the anime club if he loses, Sakamichi accepts the challenge. Kanzaki Miki and her friends hear about the race and look on as Sakamichi and Imaizumi's rear gate slope bicycle race begins!
