Idol group Nogizaka46 has announced their second single “Oide Shampoo” for release on May 2nd. Early release details announced via the group’s official website revealed the title and coupling song “Guzen o Iiwake ne Shite” performed by members: Mai Shiraishi, Nanami Hashimoto, Kazumi Takayama, and Sayuri Matsumura. The group formed to compete with AKB48 released their debut single “Guru Guru Curtain” on February 22nd and saw it chart number two with a very strong 136,000 copies sold in its opening week. Named after the Sony Music building – SME Nogizaka Building – the group was formed during the summer of 2011 and has an ongoing TV variety show that began airing in October 2011.
As part of their “official rivalry” with AKB48 the group only has 46 members with which producer Akimoto Yasushi stated they can “succeed with fewer members” and their 16 “senbatsu” members are provisional members not the top members selected for a single as with AKB48.
Their second single “Oide Shampoo” will come in four editions, three Limited editions A, B, and C with bonus DVD and a Regular CD-only edition. Limited edition First Press editions will include a ticket for handshake event and a photo (1 of 11 and differs A,B,C).
