The 1/1 scale Gundam has risen..again! The RX-78-2 Gundam now located at JR’s Higashi-Shizuoka Station at Shizuoka city will have its officially unveiling to the public on July 24th, 2010.  {more info and photos after the jump}

The animatronic Gundam is visiting Shizuoka as part of the 30th Gundam anniversary and is planned to there through the end of the Shizuoka Hobby Fair in March 2011. Note the tip of the new beam-saber melting the block of metal…

The full-size model RX-78-2 (in photo below) was an impressive sight while on display in Tokyo [Odaiba’s Shiokaze Park] last summer (2009) and drew large crowds daily. The 2010 version of the RX-78-2 adds more detail and upgraded armament.

Gundam_Tokyo_2009_02The work to erect the full-size Gundam at Shizuoka started in May and complete just a few weeks ago.  More photos and close-ups of the completed 2010 version –

Light-saber Beam-saber’s Pearl-paint will impress during the day and at night expect a full light-show from it.
