Rock band DOES has a new single “Yumermiru Sekai” announced and it has tie-in as the third opening theme for anime Space Brothers. The new single is the band’s first since “Ima wo Ikiru” released back on March 14th. Their new single “Yumermiru Sekai” comes on two editions and is scheduled to be in stores on November 14th. DOES celebrated their 5th anniversary of their major label debut this year with their “Ima wo Ikiru” single release – the Regular edition priced at ¥555 and the Limited Pressing had 5,555 copies produced. The band also released 7th album “KATHARSIVILIZATION” on May 9th.
DOES may be best known for providing 3 theme songs tied to popular anime Gintama off of their “Dancers Gambler” mini-EP: “Donten – Cloudy Sky”, “Shura – Sea of Carnage”, and “Bokutachi no Kisetsu – Our Season”. The first two songs were featured during the anime’s popular Benizakura arc that spawned the first Gintama Movie which re-animated and condensed this story arc into movie form. The third song was the movie’s theme song.
Anime Space Brothers (Uchuu Kyoudai) is adapted from manga by Koyama Chuya which also has a live action adaption. The anime began airing April 1st 2012 and follows the story of brothers Mutta and Hibito who formed a bond around their childhood dreams of becoming astronauts. The year is now 2025 and younger brother Hibito has fulfilled the dream and is currently in training for a NASA/JAXA mission to the moon. Mutta has lost his job as a successful automotive designer due to an altercation with his manager. Now Mutta needs a push and encouragement to try to fulfill the dream of becoming an astronaut too.
