angela recently revealed the title for new song Sidonia (シドニア) with tie-up as the opening theme for upcoming anime Knights of Sidonia. The anime is produced by Polygon Pictures celebrating their 30th anniversary. The duo of atsuko (vocals) and KATSU (music, producer) form angela and celebrated their 10th anniversary last year with the release of 6th album ZERO on April 24th 2013 (more details). The album includes 5 songs tied to popular anime “K” and new song Boku Janai featured as the first ending theme for anime Valvrave the Liberator.
Most recently they released single ANGEL / Tokumade on November 6th 2013 wtih the songs featured as the opening and ending themes respectively for anime COPPELION (more details).
angles continues the connection with GoHands produced anime “K”, angela is providing the theme song for the upcoming movie release set for July 12th 2014. They are also providing songs This is LOVE and Shunka Shuuto (春夏秋冬) as OP and ED respectively for upcoming PSP game adaption “K – Wonderful School Days –“.
Anime Knights of Sidonia is adapted from manga by Tsutomu Nihei and follows the story of Nagate Tanikaze who trains as a mecha pilot called Morito or guardians. Long ago Earth was attacked and devastated by aliens called Gauna forcing humans to flee. Nagate and the rest of the human race travel through space on huge ships and various new planetary settlements while the alien creatures continue their genocidal attacks.
The anime begins airing in Japan April 2014 on MBS and TBS TV. Outside of Japan streaming provider Netflix is exclusively carrying the anime. A subtitled simulcast is planned and multi-language dub version coming in summer.
The anime’s ending theme isn’t yet titled but will be provided by Eri Kitamura with her 7th single (untitled). Eri Kitamura also voices supporting character Honoka Series in the sci-fi mech anime.
