Mai Kuraki (倉木麻衣) is celebrating her 15th anniversary and releasing a DVD single Wake me up with tie-up as the theme song for upcoming live-action adaption of Kiki’s Delivery Service (魔女の宅急便). The release comes on three editions that each include a DVD and CD. Singer and songwriter Mai Kuraki (31) debuted in 1999 and has released 39 singles (plus DVD and digital singles) and 12 original albums. She last released single TRY AGAIN with tie-up as the 35th opening theme for popular TV anime series Detective Conan (Case Closed). Before that she released single Koi ni Koshite / Special morning day to you (2012.08.15) with title track Koi ni Koshite featured as the 34th opening theme for Detective Conan. Mai Kuraki has a long affiliation with the Detective Conan (Case Closed) anime franchise providing 16 songs featured as opening and ending theme songs for the TV anime series and movies.
The live-action adaption of Kiki’s Delivery Service (Majo no Takkyubin) features Koshiba Fuuka (16) in the lead roll of coming-of-age witch Kiki, Hirota Ryohei (16) as close friend Tombo, and anime voice actress Minako Kotobuki voices companion sarcastic black cat Jiji. The original novels’ first volume by Kadono Eiko was adapted into the famous Studio Ghibli anime film back in 1989.
