Unit The MONSTERS are preparing to release their debut single “MONSTERS”. The new unit consists of popular male artists Yamashita Tomohisa (Yamapi) and Katori Shingo of SMAP. The single has tie-in as theme song for TBS drama MONSTERS in which Yamapi and Katori are co-staring. The single charts are topped by Kim Hyun Joong with his 2nd Japanese single “HEAT” selling over 183,000 copies (release details) – its his first #1 Japanese single!
The 2nd spot goes to Yamashita Tomohisa (Yamapi) with his single “LOVE CHASE” that is featured as ending theme for anime Toriko – it sold over 118,000 copies (release details). Landing in 3rd spot is longtime idol group Morning Musume with “One Two Three / The Matenro Show” - one of their better selling singles in some time – with over 100,000 copies sold. The 4th spot goes to SUPER☆GiRLS and 5th spot is the combined 2PM+2AM with “OneDay” tied-in to their documentary film (release details).
The weekly album charts aren’t much changed from last week and again are topped by pop-diva Namie Amuro with album “Uncontrolled” – selling another 79,000 copies of her 7th #1 album (release details). Second spot still finds GReeeeN with their very long titled album “Utautai……” selling another 34,000 copies.

Its been about a year and a half since Yamapi released his first album “Supergood, Superbad” and a little over half a year since Yamashita officially left group NEWS to fully pursue his solo career. Yamashita Tomohisa (Yamapi) has announced his new single “LOVE CHASE” which will be released July 4th. The song “LOVE CHASE” is currently featured as the 4th ending theme for ongoing anime Toriko and was produced by MONKEY MAJIK. The single is offered in three editions, two Limited and a Regular CD-only that includes a bonus track written and composed by Yamashita. More release details follow,
Yamashita Tomohisa’s new release “I, TEXAS” appears to have the top spot on the singles charts with over 122,000 sold but it will be close with AKB48 member Mayu Watanabe and her debut solo release “Synchro Tokimeki” with over 115,000 sold – final adjustments might switch these two.
On the album charts no question it will be Ikimonogakari’s latest album “NEWTRAL” in the #1 spot with over 185,000 sold.

TV Asahi’s music show “MUSIC STATION” performers for the Friday March 9th show has been released – Arashi, Kana Nishino, HY, Shibasaki Kou, Yamashita Tomohisa (Yamapi), and Yusuke. More details on the performances follow,
A Japanese magazine reported that Yamapi has recently been to Okinawa for holidays. But he was not alone; Ikuta Toma, Yamada Yu and his rumored girlfriend were apparently also seen with him.
The Japanese magazine “Shuukan Bunshun” recently reported that Yamapi was spotted with close friend Ikuta Toma, Yamada Yu and his rumored girlfriend in Ishigakijima, Okinawa.
According to inhabitants, they first recognized Yamapi and Ikuta Toma together with a beautiful model-like girl, who later turned out to be Yamada Yu. Friends of Yamada Yu reported she stated that Yamapi had also brought his rumored girlfriend, a French-English teacher.
However, at night the group was seen in a bar drinking, telling dirty jokes and singing songs like Yamapi’s “Daite Señorita”. In the end, Yamapi and Yamada were reported to be totally drunk and needed the help of friends to get back.

Johnny’s Entertainment has announced that NEWS member, Yamashita Tomohisa will be holding his solo live tour which will span across the continent of Asia starting on January 29th to May 10th.
He will make have stops in 5 cities in Japan, and the tour also includes 5 cities outside of Japan in Asia including Hongkong, Taipei, Busan, Seoul, and Bangkok. For the entire tour, there will be 27 total stages. It was also announced that he will also be releasing his first solo album right before the tour.
Although he has performed in Taiwan in 2007 as a member of NEWS, this will be his first time holding a solo tour overseas. Yamashita commented, “It will give me a huge responsibility, but it’s also a great chance. I hope it will make people in other Asian countries get to know more about Japanese idols.” Yamashita also gave comment to fans, “I will participate in NEWS activities as well, so you don’t have to worry!

Upcoming movie, “Ashita no Joe (Tomorrow’s Joe)“, will be released in Feburary of 2011. Ashita no Joe is a legendary boxing manga, and both Yamashita Tomohisa (NEWS) and Iseya Yusuke will play a boxer. It will be a while before the movie is released, but the photos of Yamashita Tomohisa and Iseya Yusuke in boxing shorts have been revealed to generate interest.
According to Sports Nippon, both of them dealt with amazingly hard training. Yamapi started the training in February, not only weight lifting, but also had a special diet, as he only ate chicken breast and salad. Due to the hard training, Yamapi lost 8.5 kg even though he was already skinny, but he looks more muscular. After seeing his firm flesh muscles, even other NEWS members were worried about him.
When the shoot for the climax of the movie occurred in May, Yamapi and Yusuke’s body fat percentage were 5% (Yamapi) and 3% (Yusuke), which are even lower numbers than professional athletes
Lol..certainly i will watch this ~ and it was my favourite manga too.
