OriconA strong month for powerhouses Arashi (#1 single, #7 album), AKB48 (#7 single) and its sister group SKE48 (#2 single) and subgroups Not Yet (#4 single), French Kiss (#5 single), and Johnny’s Entertainment groups Sexy Zone (#3 single) and Kanjani8 (#2 album) on the monthly charts.

KARA – perhaps the hottest female idol group out of Korea these days managed to top the album charts with their release “Super Girl”. Two real ‘super girls’ – YUI was #3 on the album charts and singer/voice actress Nana Mizuki was #6.

SKE48 easily took top honors last week on the singles charts with the release of their newest single, “OkiDoki” selling over 380,000 copies. On the album charts, KinKi Kids album “K Album” sold 151,000 copies to land in the top position.

In the other top singles slots – J Soul Brothers (3rd generation) single “Refrain” landing in the number two spot,e Arashi’s single “Meikyu Love Song” released the previous week held strong in the third spot, Kana Nishino newest release “Tatoe Donna ni…” was 5th, and new theme song “CHANGE !!!” for anime “Idolm@ster” sung by the voice cast hit number 6 on the chart.

On the album charts staying strong for the second week YUI slid only one spot into second position with her release “HOW CRAZY YOUR LOVE” and Maaya Sakamoto album release “Driving in the silence” landed number 3. For Sakamoto it was her 3rd release in the past 5 weeks having charted with 2 previous single releases..

Arashi dominated the singles charts with week with “Meikyu Love Song” selling over 530,000 copies. It was the mega-boy group’s 32nd single to hit #1. The girls of Perfume made a good showing in the second spot with their latest single “SPICE.” With her first single in over 2 years, Shiina Ringo and “Carnation” hit the charts in the #5 spot.

On the album charts favorite YUI easily took care of the #1 spot with her release “HOW CRAZY YOUR LOVE.” YUI has been very busy lately but not too busy to have her 5th consecutive #1 selling album. Girls Generation (Shoujo Jidai) album “The Boys” stayed strong for the second week, slipping from #2 to #3. 

Maki Goto making what could be her final album release as a single artist with “Ai Kotoba (VOICE)” charted #8. It’s the first top ten for Goto in quite a while (2004). The former Morning Musume member previously announced an indefinite hiatus starting next year though after joining a recent performance with the other former Morning Musume members that form Dream Morning Musume, Goto indicated she would be very interested in doing more performances with Dream Morning Musume.

TV Asahi’s long running music show "Music Station" has announced the performers for their upcoming Friday the 11th of November show: Arashi – #1 most popular group, Kana Nishino – talented young singer, YUI – popular and favorite female singer, Shiina Ringo – with her first single release in 2 years, and Sexy Zone – new Johnny’s Entertainment male idol group. Performances should make for an excellent show.

Friday November 4th episode of Fuji TV’s Our music will be hosted by YUI with appearances by Goro Kishitani and Kazuyoshi Saito.

Part of the show will focus on YUI’s (24) 6th album release on November 2nd, “HOW CRAZY YOUR LOVE.” There will also be a talk segment with YUI regarding the movie, Midnight Sun (2006) which she stared in earlier in her career. She won the Best Newcomer award at the Japanese Academy Awards for her role as Amane Kaoru.  Her co-star Goro Kishitani in the role of her father will join and both will share memories of the time, such as first impressions of each other and some unique stories.YUI_kishitanigoro

Music performances will feature YUI performing “Green a.live” and a collaboration song with Kazuyoshi Saito called “Zutto sukidatta” (Much Loved). Kazuyoshi has recently released his 15th album “45 STONES” on October 19th.

ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION has titled their new single – "Marching Band" – and its set to be released on November 30th.

The single’s title track will be used in CM for "High School Courses – Shinkenzemi" campaign being carried out in support of “Project Oath Attack” to encourage high school students. The campaign is in its 4th year and has been previously supported by YUI, Galileo Galilei, and Ayaka.

In addition, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION announced they will release their first “Best” album (untitled)  in January 2012.

The band also released concert dates:

– February 22nd & 23rd Nippon Budokan (Tokyo)
– February 26th Osaka Castle Hall (Osaka)

Long standing rock band, L’Arc~en~Ciel released their newest single “X X X” last week and it rode the charts up to #1. The band is celebrating their 20th year in strong style. Making a good showing in second place was the Japanese release of the hit single “LUCIFER” by Korean band SHINee. Last week’s number one from YUI fell to number six.

On the album side stylish Kimura Kaela landed in the #1 spot with her album “8EIGHT8”.  Its been 4 years since she last had a number one album.  Last week’s number one by fictional band A.N.JELL music from the series "You’re Beautiful" stayed strong in the number two spot. The latest from long-time and ever changing Idol group Morning Musume only managed to land at number 8 with their latest, “12, smart.” And sneaking in at number ten spot was anime-cosplayer-akihabara-idol Shokotan (Shoko Nakagawa) with her newest cover album.

YUI How Crazy Your Love
YUI continues to be busy! Back from performances in China and fresh off charting #1 with her single Green a.live she’s announced a new album titled "HOW CRAZY YOUR LOVE." The new album is set for release in just a few weeks -  November 2nd!  It’s been well over a year since we’ve gotten a new album from YUI so this is welcome news.

The album will have 13 tracks including her recent single Green a.live title track and "HELLO – Paradise Kiss -" which is the theme song for live-action movie "Paradise Kiss" in theaters this past June.

Oh.. wait another announcement – the 4th track "Lock On" will be used as the theme for up coming late-night drama Kaito Royale staring Matsuzaka Tori, Oomasa Aya, Fukushi Seiji, and Chansung from Korean group 2PM. Kaito Royale will start Oct 28th at midnight.

The album will have two different versions, Limited CD+DVD and Regular CD only – check out the cover jackets and track details after the jump…

YUI Green a live
One of our favorites, singer song-writer YUI topped the singles charts with her newest release "Green a. live" with nearly 56,000 copies sold. She edged out idol group SUPER☆GIRLS who sold close to 49,000 copies of their 3rd single "Joshiryoku←Paradise".  On the album charts fictional band A.N.JELL from the Japanese re-make of Korean TV series "You’re Beautiful" MUSIC COLLECTION dominated with nearly 150,000 copies sold.
