
The Oricon weekly singles charts is topped by NMB48 and their 3rd single “Jungou U-19” with nearly 330,000 copies sold. All 3 of NMB48’s singles have charted #1 which is a first for female artists on the Oricon charts.
On the album charts L’Arc~en~Ciel and their new album “BUTTERFLY” easily top with over 170,000 copies sold. Its been over 4 years since the group released a full album and fans clearly were waiting.

The month of January sees another AKB48 family group in the top spot, this time its SKE48 and their single “Kataomoi Finally” that sold over one-half million for the month. The next 3 spots find singles from BUMP OF CHICKEN, KinKi Kids, and Korean singer Kim Hyun Joong respectively and all surpassed the 100,000 sold mark.
Finishing the top 5 singles for the month is super seiyuu/singer Nana Mizuki and her single “Synchrogazer” which is featured in Winter anime Symphogear with over 69,000 sold.
On the monthly album charts EXILE and their album “EXILE JAPAN/Solo” spent 2 weeks in the number #1 spot In January and easily takes the top spot for the month with over 336,000 sold. In the #2 spot is ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION and their album “BEST HIT AKG” with over 133,000 sold. Rounding out the top 3 is Koda Kumi and her album “JAPONESQUE” with over 118,000 sold.

The top spot on the Oricon weekly singles charts is Korean group CNBLUE with their first single of 2012 “Where are you” with over 60,000 sold. Just making it into the #2 spot as predicted in our chart preview is ClariS and their 4th single “Naisho no Hanashi” currently featured as the ending theme song for anime Nisemonogatari . ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION has titled their new single – "Marching Band" – and its set to be released on November 30th.
The single’s title track will be used in CM for "High School Courses – Shinkenzemi" campaign being carried out in support of “Project Oath Attack” to encourage high school students. The campaign is in its 4th year and has been previously supported by YUI, Galileo Galilei, and Ayaka.
In addition, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION announced they will release their first “Best” album (untitled) in January 2012.
